The Idea

Cubans in the Kitchen

My friends Polly Rich and her daughter Colleen Leonardi, editor of Edible Columbus, suggested I start a blog about Cuban cooking. I'd been wanting to do something to preserve and share our Cuban traditions. Cubans love to eat, to feast, to have a party for every occasion. It is built into the DNA. As far back as I can remember, and that's a long way to my grandmothers house in Marianao or San Miguel de los BaƱos, there was always something wonderful going on in the kitchen.
So here I am. Hopefully others will join me ,great Cuban cooks with their own traditions. I've asked my friend Osvaldo Monzon and his mother Nena to join me. We all have different ways of making all the favorite dishes,different points of view on whats essential in black beans.It will be fun to explore.
